Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
