EU Officials Decry US Action as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe such as the French president accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, after the visa restrictions targeted figures who have been at the heart of efforts to introduce legislation regulating US-based technology firms.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded coordinated campaigns to coerce US companies to suppress US perspectives they disagree with,” wrote a senior US official online. “This government will not stand for these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”
